You Give Me Butterflies

by:   on: 25th July 2017

Very excited to be finally sharing the full collaboration curated and  led by the fantatsic team at Knot & Pop featuring some of the most talented Norfolk Wedding Suppliers set in the fabulous grounds of Voweood.

Read on to find out more about the theme to view the inspirational images captured by

Marion Heurteboust.

The Setting

Taking inspiration from the stunning wedding venue, Voewood in North Norfolk, this inspirational wedding shoot perfectly complements the surrounds of the unique location.

Voewood is recognised as one of the great Arts & Crafts house in England, set in a beautiful woodland on the outskirts of the Georgian town of Holt in Norfolk.

Designed by Edward Schroeder Prior, the house is configured in the shape of a butterfly, filled with all manner of curiosities and paintings within.

The theme and scheme for the shoot was influenced by Voewood itself with the focus on the butterfly and also painterly aspects, that captured the sense of art being at the heart of this eclectic venue.

Knot & Pop developed the concept, working with an array of fantastic wedding suppliers to bring the theme to life, with the innate talent of Marion Heurteboust behind the lens.

The Details

The delicate nature of butterflies inspired the materials used with transparency forming a key detail across both the stylings of the shoot, and the photographic approach of Marion Heurteboust.

A pretty palette of dusty pink, pistachio and old rose mixed with vintage peach, grey scales and black to add an edge to the overall tone.

Painterly finishes were applied across the stationery by Lamplighter London that mixed layers of tracing paper for a lightness of touch. Knot & Pop painted bottles in organic brush-strokes to act as centre-pieces for the ever-artistic Jo Flowers to work into. This painterly and artistic feel continued across colour dipped napkins, and alternative place cards that were painted with guest names.

As if discovered in a secret garden, left to nature’s own will, Jo Flowers created a cascading arrangements using flowers and vines, such as clematis vines, rose heads, cafe au lait dahlia and pampas grass.

Further movement was added, as if blown in from the wind, by a flutter of paper butterflies made by Knot & Pop. This feature acted as a statement back-drop to the table top, with more butterflies nestled into flowers and placed on to ghost chairs for finishing touches.

The pebble detail took inspiration from the faade of Voewood, decorated in intricate stone-work and pebble like designs, with mosaics also forming a key part within the interior design of the venue as well. Table plans therefore took shape as names painted upon pebbles with the tables named after butterflies such as Painted Lady.

The butterfly motif and painterly approach continued across the statement five tier cake, created by Nevie Cake Pie. Hand painted touches mixed with white on white details to add texture and depth to the creation, to sit centre-stage with fabrics and flowers cascading across the cake table, with the stand from online gift wedding registry company, Prezola.

Further sweat treats were made by Wildflower Cakes with Knot & Pop commissioning them to create 3D edible butterflies that sat atop pebble like cookies.

The wedding wardrobe showcased wow wedding dresses from Kate Halfpennyand Anna Kara with an alternative bridal look from fashion designer Malene Oddershede Bach, a black column length maxi dress with transparent paneling. Giving bridal jewellery more of an edge and fashion forward feel, stacked rings mixed with hand bracelet and ear jackets to play to the modern minded bride and her innate sense of style, and confidence. Gemma Sutton created beautiful looks across hair and make-up that perfectly complemented the dresses.

Bridal looks were finished with textural bouquets – a mixture of juniper, roses, dahlias, cosmos, astilbe and seasonal flowers with cascading vines.

The second bouquet was darker in colour, with a mix of roses dahlia’s, chocolate cosmos, scabious, vines & some pitcher plant stems mixed for seasonal moody foliages.
