I had met Jennie many times and supported her since she opened her new bridal boutique on Timberhill in Norwich back in September 2013. It was so exciting to see someone coming to the wedding industry with such passion and an excellent eye to fashion and bridal trends. It was obvious that Jennie was determined to offer the absolute best to her brides and bring a breath of fresh air to Norwich wedding scene.
Jennie Cross Bridal Boutique – The Story
Jennie’s wedding dress shop wasn’t only tastefully designed – it was also very welcoming and appealing to a sophisticated bride. I was excited to watch Jennie bring new and exciting bridal designers and fantastic labels including Australian Bridal designer Wendy Makin, Bella Donna , beautiful bridal accessories by Miranda Templeton & Alfred Sung bridal collection . Her latest addition to her wedding designer list was Charlotte Balbier. Jennie was the only Charlotte Balbier wedding dress stockist in Norfolk, with the next closest store being in Essex!
I was very excited when Jennie called me last week as I had so many ideas that I wanted to chat to her about. Only if I had known that the phone call was going to bare some shocking and unexpected news…
Jennie Cross Boutique is CLOSING down
While starting her new venture, Jennie & her husband Si found out that they are expecting a baby which has doubled the excitement in the Cross household with not only a new business, but also a new addition to the family.
Having a baby in such early stages of opening a new business, has had an impact on it but to our amazement, 10 days after the little boy SJ was born Jennie, Simon and their new son attended and exhibited at our wedding fair at Drayton Old Lodoge in Norwich. We couldn’t believe our own eyes that this little bundle of joy was there among the crowds and Jennie was chatting away to the brides looking absolutely stunning – you couldn’t have guessed that she had given birth just over a week ago!
Jennies determination is certainly very inspiring and commendable – after only just one year of trading, the bridal boutique was doing so well and was becoming a top choice for the brides when looking for their wedding dress in Norwich!
It was certainly unexpected phone call from Jenny telling me that she has decided to close her boutique by the end of September, after just a year of trading. However, while Jenny was chasing one of her dreams of having a beautiful bridal boutique, she has found that she now has a bigger dream and passion – her little toddler SJ. It is absolutely understandable that she wants to spend more quality time with her son and be there for him while he is growing up and developing. Having a business, and particularly a shop – is a very demanding and time consuming job and knowing Jennie – she doesn’t do anything half heartedly so her decision for now – is the be the Mummy SJ deserves and close Jennie Cross Brides. Perhaps we will see more of Jennie when SJ will be older? Who knows…
In the mean time we would like to thank Jennie for being so fabulous and making so many brides happy! We wish her all the best in the future and we hope that she will enjoy the motherhood!
