We are now just hours away from waving goodbye to 2014. One more year is pretty much done & dusted.
For many it usually means a time for New Year resolutions, goals and plans. But I always try and take time to remember & appreciate all that happened in the past year – the lengths I have gone to get things done & achieved which impacted my work, personal life and all those surrounding me. So here it goes – why last year was so fabulous and what to expect in the 2015.
Reflecting on 2014
I think it is fair to say that there was ups and downs throughout 2014, both personally and at NB HQ. But I must admit my downs were far outweighed by the ups and exciting things that had been happening all the time.
I guess I will start with the exciting start to 2014 by hosting our first ever wedding show at the Great Yarmouth Town Hall which was a huge success and I am certainly looking forward to kick starting 2015 with our second event at the Town Hall closely followed by Norfolk Brides getting the funding to develop our brand new website (EEP!) and make further investment in to the business !
We had a really testing few months in spring and at the beginning of summer working with our team to get the website up and ready and while the planning and design was really fun, the work behind the scenes has challenged my patience few times to say the least. The whole website has been built from scratch in line with the new branding and editorial, sophisticated yet timeless feel. We added a categorized wedding blog, wedding directory and of course the new page for Norfolk Wedding Fairs whether organized by us or by one of our suppliers. However challenging it was at times – the result speaks for itself – absolutely chuffed with our site and from the feedback we had so far – you seem to like it too!
I must admit, personally the biggest challenge and the most rewarding achievement to date was our release of the Norfolk Brides Magazine back in October 2014. I am still amazed by how much more work had to actually get in to producing such publication – the thing nearly killed me ( literally – I had a month off work due to poorly health straight after the release!). I will make a confession – there were a few times where I had stumbled upon myself thinking if it will get released in time, or at all! The support and perseverance from the friends and family has really kept me going over those testing months where I would often leave the office past 10pm most of the days and have sleepless nights to follow. I am particularly grateful to Lee & Sophie – my printing & design team & a very good friend Hayley who had really supported and reassured me many times leading up to the deadline – without their expert knowledge & skills the Official Norfolk Brides glossy publication would have never seen the light of the day. Of course – I am hugely grateful to all involved in getting the publication together – contributors, photographers, experts sharing their ideas and of course – the couples who submitted their weddings to us.
Following the magazine I had some issues with my health and had to take quite a bit of time out of work – yes, those who told me this would happen – you were right! But you know what – I needed for this to happen to teach me a lesson – I do need to slow down and spend more time off work.
Summing the whole 2014 in a word – EVENTFUL and perhaps HUGE !
My promise to myself
Although I had fun and enjoyed myself most of the time – one thing I haven’t done enough of – is that I haven’t spent enough time with my family and friends. I was too consumed with work and ticking boxes on my never-ending ‘to do’ list, that I forgot how precious my daughters young years are – she will be going to high school in 2015 – where has my baby gone?!
I wont be making any New Year Resolutions this year ( yes, I do want to lose weight and love myself more, who doesn’t?!) , instead – I am making a promise to myself to take it easy. Slow down and enjoy little things, spend time with my family and go out with my friends.
What to expect in 2015
I love blogging and the creative side of weddings so I will be doing more of what I love – working with some amazing people and featuring some fantastic local weddings, styled shoots and inspirational boards.
And finally – the Norfolk Brides Magazine – 2nd issue WILL be released in Autumn 2015 – I already have LOADS if plans in place and we are going to make it even bigger and better than the first issue – if you would like to get involved and feature your work or wedding – get in touch!
Happy & Prosperous 2015!
I would like to THANK YOU for being so amazing throughout the 2014 and thank each and one of you for supporting Norfolk Brides, visiting our website, attending our shows and reading our magazine.
I am now off to host a small New Years Party with my family and a few close friends – I hope you will have a fantastic night!
See you on the other side!
