Meet Esther Wild // King's Lynn Wedding Photographer

23 July 2017 / Supplier Spotlight/ Wedding Planning

Esther Wild wedding photographer Kings Lynn Norfolk

I found this fabulous lady on Facebook by accident last year. Esther’s style of photography has really connected with me – the unobtrusive closeness and warmth oozing from each and every photograph. Her reportage style wedding photography captures the smallest of details and so much emotion…

A year on from when we first met, I feel like I ought to share more of her work with you so you can get a feel of whom Esther Wild is and see some of her beautiful work… Talking of which – do you remember our styled fashion shoot we did for our 3rd issue of Norfolk Brides Magazine – it was Esther who stepped in at the last minute and did a terrific job with the images – you can check it out HERE

Meet Esther Wild

I was born the same year a hurricane hit the UK, and grew up in Southern England. My hobbies are all 'hands-on' - I love to design and sew my own clothes. I Also enjoy cross stitching, crochet and upcycling old furniture. And love to spend 'screen breaks' in the garden encouraging the flowers.. Time spent making things more beautiful is time well spent in my opinion!

I've got a young family and a 2yr old spaniel - we love to walk for miles in the country spotting the wildlife, and shooting it (with the zoom lens) wherever possible. I am incredibly sentimental, way too emotional and love deeply. I consider my work to be passionate, moody and film-like, if there's movement - bonus! It's perfectly imperfect.

Love a cup of tea, history and piano music.

I became interested in photography quite early, using film SLR cameras to photograph whatever I could find in the garden. In 2003 my artistic learning started when I studied Photography at Farnborough Sixth Form College, and then onto the Open College of the Arts (accredited by UCA) in 2011 in-between work experience and family life. Having children really opened my eyes to life's little moments; how important they feel and how quickly they seem to pass by. It is always a very special privilege to be invited into other's lives for a while. In 2015, from rather humble beginnings, I opened my photography business after Explore Enterprise with the Prince's Trust. My work has been featured in a few magazines including Norfolk Brides, Photography Monthly, ON:Yorkshire and The World of Photography. There are plenty of opportunities and goals for future work too.

Tell us about your style of work

My mission is to capture a true representation of your unique wedding in documentary / narrative fashion from champagne breakfast to the last firework. To record every aspect possible - candidly, and with an organic feel. I balance 'staying hidden' with 'getting stuck in' and find the raw emotion, fun and natural interactions. Planning a very detailed schedule before the day arrives means I don't miss anything but also find times to walk among guests or photograph the location / decorations and other goings-on; For example – the serving of food. I don't like to line everyone up and make them smile - most of my group photos involve throwing something or jumping.. just more unusual things that I've enjoyed capturing since I was very young. We will have a chat as you walk through your couples photos. You may find moments you didn't notice on the day appearing in the album. Or special effects you didn't see me create. As for editing - no airbrushing or warping. Just colour corrections and a classic film matte look across the images.

I always say that finding the right photographer for your day is like finding the right dress for your day - Make sure you check out different photographers, look through their work, and find exactly the right style and fit for your day. Then you will be confident that they will deliver what you're expecting.
