In this article, previously featured in the latest issue of Norfolk Brides Magazine, photographer Megan Duffield discovers the breathtaking effect of setting Indian culture against a Norfolk backdrop at the stunning West Norfolk wedding venue at Narborough Hall. We have decided to share the full shoot on our blog as well.  Yes, our magazine is lovely, but you simply cannot fit all of the stunning photos in 3 pages and showcase the hard work of the whole team as it deserves.

Megan’s inspiration came about after she had the chance to second shoot on a real Indian wedding in 2015 which was full of colour, Indian culture and the most fantastic details. She was amazed by the intricate henna tattoos, the jewellery and the incredibly vibrantly-coloured saris. And when she started chatting with Katy from Bracken & Twine Flowers and hen artist,  they came up with the idea of organising a collaborative shoot to showcase local suppliers’ talents, with the aim of promoting multi-cultural weddings in Norfolk.

Narborough Hall Gardens had been on Megan’s bucket list of venues to work at/with ever since she picked up her camera to shoot weddings and she was over the moon that they loved the concept and were more than happy to host it in their hall and grounds.

The theme has a beautiful jewel-tone colour palette of autumnal reds, oranges and purples with the make-up and hair looking less traditional Indian, and more softer, bohemian.

Each female model’s hands and feet were decorated with the most intricate henna designs to replicate a traditional aspect of an Indian Hindu wedding. I adore the mix of colours, sense of tradition mixed with the subtle modern day touches and creative styling.

Are you planning an Indian or another traditional and colourful wedding?

We’d love to hear all about it, but in the mean time – I hope you will enjoy this beautiful work that Megan has captured so stunningly.
