Everyone loves food at weddings, be it a roast, buffet or a 5 course luxurious feast. To make our lives easier, many wedding venues offer pre-set Wedding Breakfast menu’s. But what if you want something different and the Sunday roast and chicken in a bed of gravy is not quite what you are after?

As most venues will offer a set menu included in the packages, often it doesn’t mean that they are not flexible – if you have your heart set on a la carte menu, or afternoon tea for your wedding guests, but it is not available on the food list supplied by the venue – just ask – they may be able to help and work to your requirements and budget.

A bit of venue dcor and specific menu can set the whole theme to your wedding day so you will only have the wedding invitations and flowers to match and you are all set to go!

What could be more relaxed and alternative than a true comfort food – pizza? Just imagine a gorgeous summer evening, your wedding guests mingling and having their choice of wood fired pizza baked in minutes right in front of them.

Proper Pizza Co. specialise in baking the tastiest pizzas in Norfolk and can cater for your dietary needs. Yummy!

The joy with sushi is that it is so light & fresh and you can have a vegetarian option too. It’s a perfect alternative for a summer buffet ( be sure to serve it on ice – especially if it is really hot!)

If you haven’t tried a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts – you absolutely MUST. If there is no local Kripsy Kreme store – it is worth searching for a wonderful baker locally who could make you a doughnut wedding cakes and even a doughnut wedding favours! Not only it will be tasty, but it could be a really quirky touch to your wedding.

BBQ/ Hog Roast / Picnic

Perhaps a more traditional, but still, very popular and budget friendly wedding catering idea is either a wedding BBQ or Hog Roast. You can offer some amazing salads & healthy vegetable options with the meat and if you want something a bit more heart warming on a chilly autumn day – why not serve it with some good chilli too?

If you are lucky with the weather – a lovely picnic could be a really fun, different way to celebrate your big day, and it will not only be relaxed and chilled, but you can make it really good alternative to the usual buffet. Some straw bales, park benches and plenty of colourful blankets & throws from The Little Lending Co. as previously seen in their Sandringham Woodland Picnic shoot  we had a pleasure to feature a little while ago, and you are set to go!

While there are so many options for wedding catering out there, there are no limits to how creative you and your selected chefs can get with your food. But before you do go ahead and start sourcing those wedding caterers and ideas – be sure to check with your wedding venue if there are any restrictions and limitations – they may even be able to make the menu you are after in house, thus saving you some money and time.

Alternatively, you can always opt for a marquee wedding or check out some of our wedding caterers in Norfolk who may be able to help you!
