Weddings at Norwich Cathedral

15 April 2015 / Supplier Spotlight

Personally I absolutely love the Cathedral. The mix between old school and modern architecture, exclusive grounds and exceptional hospitality team. Above all - this wedding venue has THAT 'feel' to it.

It is no ordinary wedding venue. It is a lot more than that. You must see it to appreciate scope of this place.

Norwich Wedding Venue

Norwich Cathedral is a stunning hidden gem in central Norwich. Founded in 1096 by the first Bishop of Norwich, Herbert de Losinga, Norwich Cathedral boasts a wealth of Romanesque features, with later Gothic additions, creating one of the most atmospheric sacred spaces in Europe. For over 900 years the awesome beauty of this Norman building has reached out and touched people. The Cathedral’s architecture is justly famous, its history fascinating and its collection of art and objects outstanding.

It's rich history and heritage makes it an exclusive venue for wedding receptions and other personal celebrations in central Norwich.

There are a few areas where you can create your own wedding haven at Norwich Cathedral:

The Close

With its unique blend of historical listed buildings and green open spaces - all overlooked by the famous Cathedral Spire - this really is the most beautiful of settings for you to capture wedding photographs to be cherished for years to come.

The Cloisters

Steeped in history and equally elegant during the day or when lit of an evening, the Cloisters are a favoured location to greet guests with arrival drinks and canapés.

The Weston Room

Located on the upper floor of the Hostry, the Weston Room is an ideal space for your wedding breakfast. With its high oak ceilings and glass panelled exterior, the room is flooded with natural light during the day and offers a stunning view of the Cathedral Spire at night. Can accommodate large or more intimate receptions, with a private bar and dance floor available.

The Refectory

Can be viewed as an alternative to the Weston Room, but frequently chosen as the setting for evening receptions. The Refectory is a similarly light and modern space, where you can celebrate as a small party or set up to dance the night away.
