I guess I should start with the belated Happy New Year wishes for you all since we have not posted over the festive season or just after. Read on to find out why and what has been happening at Norfolk Brides HQ back in 2015 and how we started 2016.
OUT WITH THE OLD…
I must admit, 2015 has been a very tough year and I am quite pleased it is over.
Lots of things happened – both of positive and not quite so. It still, however, has been the most rewarding year for Norfolk Brides to – date. And I don’t mean it in a financial way – I mean in terms of success, growth and recognition.
We worked with some incredible wedding businesses and made connections with many small and independent wedding suppliers from across Norfolk too. They may not all be on our website yet, but if you are browsing our wedding directory and can’t find what you are looking for – do drop us a line and will do our best to help you, or at least, point you to the right direction. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our lovely website sponsors too – big thanks to the fantastic wedding venue in Norwich - Sprowston Manor , the fabulous wedding dress shop in Diss - Boutique of Dreams stocking some incredible wedding dresses and fantastic bridesmaid dress ranges. A big "thank you" also goes to one of our favorite, family owned wedding jewellery shop at Aurum Jewellers & Designers in the heart of Norwich, in the Lanes. And of course, not forgetting Adnams of Southwold on Unthank road in Norwich offering exclusive hen & stag parties and the Prosecco ( or any other drinks of your choice for your big day). I would also like to express my gratitude to all other wedding suppliers who were listed with Norfolk Brides wedding directory , attended our wedding shows and contributed to the creation of the best wedding magazine in Norfolk.
In 2015, Norfolk Brides hosted 2 brand new wedding shows: our one-off event at Somerleyton Hall near Lowestoft in March and the annual exclusive wedding event at Oxnead Hall near Aylsham in October. Both events were a tremendous success with the record numbers (to us) in couples attending the events with Oxnead edging close to 1000 attendees on the day!
Another, an extremely proud moment was the launch of the 2nd issue of the Norfolk Brides Magazine at the Oxnead Hall wedding show in October. This year, the publication is much bigger, featuring 16 REAL WEDDINGS lots of interviews, wedding advice and tips from local wedding experts, and of course – plenty of wedding inspiration from Norfolk finest wedding folk. The luxurious wedding publication still remains FREE to pick up at the selected locations across Norwich and Norfolk, or you can order your copy online for P&P costs. If you would like to stock our wedding magazine – please drop us a line and we will send you some copies too (although be quick as there are an only limited number of copies remaining since it is so popular!).
All of the exciting projects did come at a price, though – and once again – not a financial one. Since I always enjoyed the challenges and ever-evolving online marketing, I had set up my own freelance marketing & event support business , through which I took up a project at Fakenham Racecourse earlier in 2015. This extra commitment made being self-employed and running a Norfolk Brides single handily (not for much longer though – read on for details) much tougher. Despite the lack of hours in the day (and, sometimes, motivation) to get everything done, I have somehow managed to find the balance in the end (not without help and sacrifices) and I am back on track.
On a personal reflection, 2015 has been about self-development and learning to take time out when I need it. A lot of self-employed or small business owners will understand how challenging it can be at times. Moving onwards and upwards in 2016 when family and health comes first.
In with the new…
I have already started printing and clipping my positive mantras all over my home, office AND social media profiles. I think they offer a great way to stay motivated and reach for the goals. Including such lines as “Don’t be busy, just be productive” and my all-time favourite “I can and I will. Watch me.” Do you have a favourite saying that resonates with you? Use it. Print it off, and stick it on your fridge, on the wall in the office or have it as your screensaver on your phone. You’d be surprised how powerful and effective it can be.
Anyway… back to the point. The start to 2016 was pretty slow – the dark rainy days and early sundown along with all those mince pies and mulled wine didn’t help the case … BUT we have made some changes at Norfolk Brides HQ and they are pretty exciting.
And then there were two…
After hours of chats and number of changes in both of our business’ structures, I am delighted to confirm that my hubby Tim will be joining Norfolk Brides as an official team member as of January 2016.
We deliberated for a while if we can work together as so many people are against it, but we have come to a conclusion that we can do it. Tim will be predominantly responsible for business development, sales and membership management while my main focus will be on the creative side of the business – updating the wedding blog with plenty of wedding tips and advice and inspirational bridal shoots, which has been neglected lately ( sorry about that). With Tim’s help, I will be able to focus on bettering our events and producing even more exciting and unique Norfolk Wedding Magazine.
We are pretty excited to be working with the Great Yarmouth Borough Council on our 3rd Annual Great Yarmouth Wedding show taking place at the Great Yarmouth Town Hall in just a few weeks time, on Sunday 31st January. In addition, we are delighted to be working with the fabulous wedding and events team at Wensum Valley Hotel & Golf Club for our brand new wedding show there on Sunday 13th March. And of course, not forgetting the most loved Oxnead Wedding show returning on 23rd October 2016 with the help of Unique Norfolk Venues.
So, folks, it is looking like we are in for a very exciting year ahead in 2016 and you can expect big, informative and very exciting things from the team here in Norwich.
If you would like to be a part of our Norfolk Brides wedding family – please do get in touch with Tim ( or myself) to discuss your needs and wants, and if you are a bride or husband – to be – please do keep checking our website for the latest wedding news in Norfolk, new wedding suppliers and tips on how to plan that perfect wedding in Norfolk.
If there anything that you would like to see on the website in particular – your suggestions are ALWAYS welcome so if you want something, but not seeing it – tell us and we will see if we can make it happen for you.
