Read on if you want to get a taste of what's to come to St Andrews Hall in Norwich this Sunday.
We keep a keen eye on the trends here at MOST CURIOUS Wedding Fair HQ, and that doesn't mean just looking at what's going on with the most beautiful weddings, it is looking at lifestyle, fashion and interior trends as it all filters through. With our 2016 campaign shoot, we try and make it something of a trend prediction for coming year, so we knew we had to represent current lifestyle trends as well as bridal trends, because that is what the show is all about - bringing couples’ everyday love for the cool, for great style, design and fashion that they already pepper their lives with, into their big day.
The boho vibe still reigns supreme, but it veering more towards a 'boho-luxe', so bohemian dresses are still en trend with flowing shapes, pretty embroidery, low or open backs, and a 70s Stevie Nicks feel - but people are mixing it up with silks, sparkle and sequins to give it a little fun, glamourous and edge to keep the party vibes and specialness of the day alive! Norwich exhib and new company Grace and Fortune make beautiful embellished and bejewelled accessories for the modern bride that fit this look perfectly. And show sponsors Belle and Bunty bridalwear are the veritable queens of boho-Luxe!
We’ll definitely be seeing more separates in 2016 and another hot tip is sheer skirts, delicate and feminine but definitely a fashion-led look.
The cool bridalwear trend that continues to come forward is the modest and simple
Basically team a tee-shirt top with a sheer shirt and you will be hitting all the right 2016 notes!
Jumpsuits are certainly having a rather awesome
Again, simple shapes rule for cakes, a look that dominated 2015 that will continue into the new year - with colour block aesthetics, perhaps ombre icing or one colour for each tier?
But new for 2016 is definitely the ‘drip’ cake - an over flowing, mouth-watering effect that gives the feel of opulence as well as being so laid back that the yum factor has over taken any thoughts of keeping things neat. We like it! Epically named Buns of Fun, do this look very well and will be coming to Norwich.
We are also seeing 2016 as the year of the Donut - this little round ball or hoop of sugary fun is having a renaissance and at Donut Lab will be bringing some of coolest and yummiest donuts EVER.
DECOR and PAPER GOODS
Geometric elements in styling rule, with a cleaner, slicker, minimal feel being the order of the day in 2016 - with no over styling, just carefully considered moments of greatness at a venue, rather than over kill shouty decor every where you look.
Minimal is key, but with accents - so there is plenty of bold and pastel colour blocking, on white backgrounds. Walls become focal points with tasseled and macrame wall hangings, text and typography. From modern calligraphy to bold, capital letters declaring messages of love, laughter and dancing as a decorative element. Along these same lines, we also predict vertical hanging banners, with beautifully written sentiments, which might be seen on bouquet ribbons too. For all your decor needs we have one exhibitor we need to shout from the roof tops The Little Lending Company! She’s can cater for the boho-luxe as well as the more graphic, pastel and geometric vibe as well as being a dab hand at the calligraphy signage too.
We will see plenty of hanging baskets of blooms and plants, just as people have in their homes are making their way into wedding styling. We wanted to push the knotted hanging basket further for 2016 and included them in bright colours rather than washed and muted out. Alongside the geometric aesthetic, we are seeing peg boards and graphic and ethnic prints, something we brought into our shoot too.
For that luxe feel, that may be needed to glam up the minimal vibe, there’s lots of flashes of copper, gold and silver in 2016 wedding decor too, particularly on paper goods. Wedding invite stationery and paper goods on the day, such as place names, table plans and table names might see an injection of
We predict that 2016 will be all about the non-floral bouquet and arrangement ideas.
So lots of greenery and foliage, cacti and succulents for the coming year - with less emphasis on the flowers. Who’d have thought it after so many years of soft, blousey wild blooms? But do not fear we are still seeing a lot of love for that look too.
It is definitely about the greenery though, in fact the whole show will have a BUSH & WOOD theme!
That’s our cheeky way of saying rustic wood textures and evergreen style foliage will be the overriding vibe that runs through the aesthetic of the show. Exhibitors the Swaffham Florist and Flower do bushy like a dream and The Norfolk Olive Tree company can provide chic foliage vibes on a hire basis too!
Just as we have seen in the coolest homes, plants have becomes the new flowers, so much so we are even seeing terrariums as wedding table centre pieces.
BRAND NEW company Botanical & Bloom will be there with her geometric table decs and concrete planters in angular shapes, plus succulents and plants for sale on the day and laid back just-gathered foliage style in spades. Come and see them at the show for first ever look at their collection.
